Pete’s Nut Brown Ale
Brewer's Notes
Brewed in memory of club founder Peter Chin Sang, who led the founding of Strand Brewers Club in January 1991 with five other employees at Allied Signal in Torrance. Pete’s Nut Brown Ale has been brewed as a club tradition since at least 2010, served at the Southern California Homebrewers Festival and other club events. A tribute beer that connects today’s members to the club’s origins.
This recipe was brewed at the February 2010 club brew hosted by President Chris Voisey, as documented in the March 2010 Dregs. The grain bill, hop schedule, and other recipe details were never published in the Dregs newsletter. The recipe was shared among club members at brew sessions rather than in print. The BJCP Northern English Brown Ale style guidelines (OG 1.040-1.052, IBU 20-30, SRM 12-22, ABV 4.2-5.4%) were published in the January 2010 Dregs as the Style Spotlight, providing context for what Pete’s Nut Brown targets.
